The Zona Plus Series 3 is a handheld, software-controlled isometric exercise device intended for adjunctive use in the maintenance of overall cardiovascular wellness. It builds on the Series 2 protocol that customers have used for more than a decade and adds a colour display, on-device video instructions and automatic tracking of every session.

How a session works

Each session takes just under 12 minutes. The device first measures your maximum voluntary contraction in each hand, then calculates a personal target for that day. You then complete four two-minute isometric holds, alternating hands, while the display and audio cues guide you to squeeze at exactly the right pressure. Because it recalibrates every time, the Zona Plus adapts to you whether your grip is light or strong, and more than one person can share a device.

What is isometric exercise?

Isometric exercise is a muscle contraction in which the muscle is tensed and working but does not shorten or lengthen. There is no joint movement, which is why the routine can be done seated and is well suited to people who find conventional exercise difficult. The Zona Plus protocol grew out of research commissioned by the U.S. Air Force into pilot performance under g-force and has since been studied in peer-reviewed cardiovascular research. It is intended to be used alongside, not instead of, your existing exercise routine.

Tracking your progress

The Series 3 stores your results on the device and syncs them to your secure Zona Health account, where you can review your usage, scores and maximum voluntary contraction over time. Two Zona Health accounts are included with every device.
